With over a decade of experience in software engineering, fintech, and business strategy, he leads the company’s mission to make financial services more accessible, scalable, and secure through modern technology.
Under his leadership, MEHTIC Technology has developed innovative platforms including BankPlus, an AI cloud-native core banking platform for financial institutions, and MehticPay, a digital web3 payments infrastructure that enables seamless digital transactions for businesses and individuals. These solutions have empowered financial institutions to modernize their operations while processing billions of naira in transaction value.
Ahmed combines deep expertise in finance and technology to solve complex challenges facing banks, microfinance institutions, fintechs, cooperatives, and businesses across emerging markets. His vision is to build financial infrastructure that enables institutions of every size to launch, scale, and compete in an increasingly digital economy.
He holds an HND in Accounting and Finance, an MBA in Business, and an MBA in Finance and International Securities . Throughout his career, he has remained committed to advancing financial inclusion, supporting innovation, and building globally competitive technology solutions from Africa.
As CEO, Ahmed continues to drive MEHTIC Technology’s expansion through strategic partnerships, product innovation, and the integration of artificial intelligence into financial infrastructure, positioning the company as a trusted technology partner for the future of banking in Africa.
He helps grow Dollarpay from 0 to over 2,000 mobile banking agent and Ajocash from 0 to over 12,000 customers.
Abubakar Lawal Opeyemi
Chief Technology Officer (C.T.O.)Abubakar Lawal is the Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Mehtic Technology, where he leads the company’s technology vision, engineering strategy, cybersecurity initiatives, and product innovation. With over 10 years of experience spanning software engineering, fintech, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise architecture, he has built secure, scalable, and mission-critical digital platforms for financial institutions, businesses, and enterprise organizations.
As the technical architect behind Mehtic Technology’s flagship solutions, Abubakar has led the development of BankPlus, an AI-powered cloud core banking platform, and MehticPay, a modern payment infrastructure designed for businesses and financial institutions. Under his technical leadership, BankPlus now powers more than 20 financial institutions and serves over 50,000 users, while MehticPay supports more than 12,000 users and has processed tens of thousands of financial transactions through a secure, resilient, and highly available platform.
Abubakar has also played a key role in delivering enterprise-grade technology solutions for organizations such as Benson Idahosa University and Ile-Oluji Microfinance Bank, helping them modernize operations, strengthen security, automate business processes, and improve digital service delivery. His work emphasizes engineering excellence, platform reliability, scalable infrastructure, regulatory readiness, and long-term business value.
Before co-founding Mehtic Technology, Abubakar served as Lead Developer at Honeypays, where he designed backend systems, payment integrations, and scalable financial applications. Earlier in his career, he worked as an independent software engineer, delivering enterprise software and digital transformation projects for startups, SMEs, and organizations across multiple industries.
His expertise includes enterprise software architecture, distributed systems, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, payment infrastructure, DevOps, systems integration, and technology leadership. Known for his ability to select the right technologies for complex business challenges, Abubakar has successfully led and mentored engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
Beyond his executive role, Abubakar is passionate about mentoring the next generation of African software engineers and advancing technology across the continent. Through technical writing, educational content, and community engagement, he shares practical knowledge that supports developer growth and promotes engineering excellence within Africa’s technology ecosystem.

Dr. Joel Haruna
Board MemberDr. Joel Haruna is a distinguished finance and banking professional with over 22 years of experience spanning risk management, operations, portfolio management, strategic leadership, business development, and advisory services. He currently serves as Director of Pyatic Group, Director of Ash Biomedical Therapeutics Ltd, and Co-Founder of Celerux Associates.
A seasoned banking executive, Dr. Haruna previously served as Acting Managing Director/CEO and Group Head of Business Development at Dignity Finance and Investment Limited. His impressive banking career includes leadership roles at United Bank for Africa (UBA), Diamond Bank Plc, and Access Bank Plc, where he held key positions such as Branch Manager, Head of Operations, Area Manager, and Regional Sales Manager.
An alumnus of Harvard Business School, Dr. Haruna holds a B.Sc. in Accounting, M.Sc. Accounting, MBA, and a Ph.D. in Finance. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), a Senior Honorary Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (HCIB), and a Fellow of several professional institutions in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Mr. Olufemi Adegoke
Board MemberMr. Olufemi Adegoke is a renowned development economist, programme evaluation specialist, and international development expert with extensive experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating high-impact development programmes across Nigeria and beyond. He currently serves as the Country Director of OPM Nigeria, where he leads strategic initiatives focused on evidence-based development and social impact.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Adegoke worked with the Development Impact Evaluation (DIME) Unit of the World Bank, coordinating evaluations of World Bank-supported projects and driving data-driven decision-making processes. He has also led the design and implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and management information systems for major education, health, and social development programmes.
A graduate of the University of Ibadan with a degree in Human Nutrition, Mr. Adegoke holds a Master’s degree in Population and International Health from Harvard University. His expertise in impact assessment, programme management, research, and strategic planning brings valuable insight to the Board of MEHTIC Technology as the company continues to expand its footprint in technology-driven innovation and digital transformation
Dr. Chijioke Ekechukwu
Board MemberDr. Chijioke Ekechukwu is a distinguished economist, financial expert, and business leader with decades of experience in banking, finance, investment management, and economic policy. He built an illustrious career in the banking industry, rising to top executive management positions before transitioning into leadership roles within Nigeria’s private sector and business community.
He currently serves as the Executive Chairman of Bristol Investment Group, a diversified investment company with interests in finance, real estate, and education. He is also the Vice President (Commerce) of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), having previously served as its Director General. In addition, he has held the position of Managing Director/CEO of Dignity Finance and Investment Limited and serves on the boards of several financial institutions.
Dr. Ekechukwu holds a Ph.D. in Financial Economics with specialization in Monetary Policy Interventions and is a Visiting Resource Person at the Owner Manager Programme (OMP) of the Lagos Business School. A prolific scholar, he has authored and published over fifty international journal articles in economics and finance.
A Fellow of several prestigious professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCTI), Dr. Ekechukwu brings a wealth of expertise in economics, corporate governance, risk management, and strategic leadership to the Board of MEHTIC Technology.
